This is one of five accordion books. Each book tells the story of one Holocaust survivor who was interviewed by the artist. The prints from all five books were published by Jonathan David Publishers, Inc. as Light in the Shadows.

Escape is about a young Jewish boy who fled Germany with his parents and grandmother shortly before the outbreak of the war. After the war began, he and his parents escaped from occupied Europe and went to the United States.
